And kind regards to you too, Publius.
Not much room to argue, actually. I'd have to agree with you that those other things just as bad are in fact just as bad. Grabbing property through suborning a legislature to pass sweetheart laws is just as bad as suborning a municipality to use local ED.
It's starting to appear that the fad of local governments bending over (backward) to attract businesses was for suckers. The multinationals are just as quick to relocate overseas from a community that's given them huge tax breaks and other concessions, as any other community. The compliant communities end up with little to show for their largesse, only unemployment and blight and few resources to deal with it.
"People are America's greatest natural resource!" proclaim the politicians and business leaders. Uh huh. And we're being stripmined.
One of the ugliest phrases in the language is "human resources". At least the old term "personnel" had a "person" in it. "HR" ranks right up there with "consumer" for dehumanizing wretchedness.
Thanks for giving me an excuse to exercize that liberal muscle. Feels good to stretch after being shoved in that box by the Rightists.

- The Supreme Court is ruling on its authority to abrogate a local law.

- So we can get it on the record:
- Also, about lost income, I referred to rental income.

- Going back to the point that language has meaning and misuse leads to emotional misunderstanding..
