So what do you suggest? Go to the Supreme Court with torches and axes?

Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Fix the damn law.

We have to have respect for the law in the United States. It's the only thing that makes us a nation. The flag doesn't do that. The Pledge of Allegiance doesn't do that. America the Beautiful doesn't do that. The interstate highway system doesn't do that. Not even the Declaration of Independence does that.

We also have to have ownership of the law. To do that, we have to act. This guy has no real idea what that means. He sees respect for a ruling as slavish. The ruling isn't a fiat. It's a closed door in a house with many other doors. The Court has said, "No, you may not use the servants' entrance on this occasion. Go use the front door like you own the place." But the author of this article doesn't get it.

Ownership of the law gives grounds for respect of the law. If we own it -- and we do -- it's up to us to maintain it, and to fix it, not to job out the hard work to a small group of people in black robes.

But you don't get that, do you?
