Public good (established law) vs benefit for a private company
Let me make it simple...
Urban renewal is for a PUBLIC good project, roads, schools, airports and yes, urban renewal.
This case was groundbreaking, for a PRIVATE company.
It's different. Really.
So Microsoft wants to build a campus wherever. Makes some major league contributions to local pols' re-election committees and Viola! - a new development via siezed property. Now it's legal. Or let's say you or I (more likely) runs afoul of local govt and becomes an 'annoyance'. Viola! Home siezed for siteing the new Walmart store. Just an unprovable coincidence that Walmart made legal contributions to whatever.
