Ah yes Tom, the joy of the electoral process....
"
From BBC News:
Despite the stringent security measures, low-level violence was reported within minutes of polls opening:
* A huge blast was heard near the heavily-fortified Green Zone, home to the Iraqi government and a number of Western embassies. There were no reports of casualties
* Mortar fire was heard in a number of areas around Baghdad, with reports of at least two civilians wounded
* In Mosul, a hospital guard was killed when a bomb went off near a polling station, witnesses said
* A mortar round targeted a polling station in Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit
* On the eve of voting, bombs were uncovered and diffused near a number of polling stations in Baghdad, Falluja and other cities, the US military said "
You, again, assume anyone who is against this war is a Liberal. You, again, assume anyone who thinks this was illegal and unjustified wants it to 'fail'. No. I was against this war from the very start, but I do not want the situation to 'fail'. I want GWB brought to justice for what he has done, a full inquiry into exactly how and why this war was started, what lies were told, and I want the Iraqi people to be given their country back without fear of being blown up on the way to the shops.
GWB said that the world was a better place because of his invaison of Iraq. I'd like him to tell that to the 50+ familes who lost loved ones here in London this summer. This was HIS war, the price should not have been THEIRS to pay - but because of HIS actions, it IS.
I just cant believe your blinkered attitude on this Tom - you are a sensible guy 99% of the time, but the moment the war is mentioned, you act as if it's some sort of Eden like Nirvana out there. It isnt. It's a bloody, violent, disgusting mess and the president who YOU adore and who's every word YOU believe caused it. He's been lying to you for 4 years and you still dont get it. I am amazed and appauled by your attitude, I truely am.

- Freedom and democracy...and where would that be?
- that's not really the point here
- "Could anyone still say, 'this is worth 30,000 deaths'?"
- Get real.

- Well, they were going to die sometime anyway, so Bush isn't really responsible.
