Tom's a sensible guy 99% of the time? Boy, you must be reading other posts than I am. I'll give you that the man has a number of brain cells firing but the overwhelming majority of the stuff he posts on here are neo-con talking points from very conservative blog sites. I'd hardly consider that sensible. The sensible ones in here generally have a balance to their posts. Tom points to one or two posts where he's been upset with Bush about his border policies and we're suddenly supposed to see him as open-minded.
I'm sorry but in many ways the man infuriates me more than the outright bigots that post on here because from time to time guys like you Doug give him a pass because of his diligence in hunting down info or his prolific posting stats. What particular bothers me is that he's part of that group of Americans that needs to be slapped upside the head because they have enough brain cells to override the things their Christian upbringing have shaped them into. Logic, divorced from our "wonderful" Christian ethic, tells people that George Bush is an idiot and that he's surrounded by very scary men with no regard for the Constitution. Any educated man with a decent IQ that can't see some truth in that needs some tough love bitch slapping right now, not pandering by calling them sensible.
My compassion for their intellect ebbs daily.

- re: has anyone mentioned that this is hardly news?
- Never mind
- Good point but
- yes those elections are very good news. Think of this though:

- Freedom and democracy...and where would that be?
- that's not really the point here
- "Could anyone still say, 'this is worth 30,000 deaths'?"
- Get real.

- Well, they were going to die sometime anyway, so Bush isn't really responsible.
