obtuse deflection

Maybe collapsing all the world that's not Rightist into the catchall category "Communist" really isn't a cheap rhetorical device and maybe you really can't distinguish gradations of ideology outside your own. Maybe. Maybe you see the differences but lump them all into the metacategory "creeping Communism" and for you the slippery slope is the same as the bottom of the gravity well. Maybe.

Regardless of the explanation, the result is that you're equally hostile to anyone who doesn't share your rigid ideology, and perhaps "Communist" is intended more as insult expressing your hatred than a real judgment of ideological position. Whatever. You've made it clear too many times that you think Democrats threaten America because they're "Leftists"--a common synonym for "Marxist"--and you're just sure that they'll institute Communism in America just as soon as they gain power (ignoring all the years they've been in power so far, but that's a Rightist for you).

Speaking of deflection, Tom, you still haven't responded to my request for your position on longterm Republican goals:

I'm sure you've heard the phrase "permanent Republican majority". Please explain how a campaign to transform our democracy into a one-Party State is evidence of even the slightest respect for democracy. I'm calling you guys on your hypocrisy, on wrapping yourselves in the flag and giving lipservice to your love of democracy, while your real agenda is to destroy it.

I'm genuinely curious, Tom. You're always trotting out horror stories about countries that adopted forms of Marxism. Perhaps you'd do us the favor of compiling a list of nations that adopted a one-party system whose story ended well. One-party nations that weren't tyrannies. One-party nations that didn't pile the skulls into mountains.

Your permanent confusion of economic and political systems blinds you to the danger of the Republican drive to undermine democracy in order to strengthen business. Apparently transforming Congress into the Republican Politburo is just peachy keen fine with you if it increases Republican power and puts a few bucks in your pocket. Because at the end of the day, power and money are everything to you and the Republicans, aren't they, Tom?

Republican "values"....phhtt.
