Ooo! Ooo! And we come full circle!

What irritates me is the special vitriol some civil liberties types seem to reserve for Judeo-Christianity, which in a number of cases seems to be related to something deeper than concern for the Constitution or worries about religion supplanting secular systems.

You only have to see one march where the campus socialists are marching side-by-side with Islamists to know that something a bit odd is going on here.

Part of your reply to me, here.

Again with the assumption that opposition to the dominant religion getting pride of place (and preference of placement) equals opposition to religion. I was born and raised in the 1950s, too. I remember who were the opponents of Judeo-Christianity. It was the godless Commies who were going to herd all of us Catholic schoolchildren into the sacristy of the church and shoot us dead if we didn't deny our belief in God. (Actual teaching in my First Communion class. We would go straight to heaven, having died a martyr's death. Remind you of what suicide bombers have been taught?)

So, above, we have your "campus socialists" (opposing Judeo-Christianity: read "Commie fellow-travellers") "marching side by side with Islamists". Hmm. A silly image, since there would be a fistfight before they worked together for a month, but interesting in its combination of two disparate groups into one Enemy. Are you truly so committed to creation of a Them that you would blur all the distinctions among those who don't agree with your side? Or is this just more "liberal nuance" to be derided?
