I can tell that, as usual, you've never actually read any of Lakoff's work. You're just parroting the opinion of some blogger, aren't you?
What's fascinating about Lakoff's "Whose Freedom?" is that it examines how the Right and its thinktanks are systematically debasing language for political purposes. The examples are legion, starting with the classic deception of calling tax cuts for the wealthy "tax reform" and extending to systematically trying to substitute a radical and radically twisted definition of "freedom" in place of the traditional progressive usage that's been at the heart of American politics since the beginning.
Tom, I'm sorry, but until you start doing the heavy lifting of actually reading books like Lakoff's "Whose Freedom?", or Hugh Hewitt's "Painting the Map Red", or Carville and Begala's "Take it Back!", your opinion in the matter isn't worth a bucket of warm spit. Too many of our conversations consist of me trying to talk about something I've actually taken the time to read and looked into on my own, and you responding with nothing more than secondhand RightWing rhetoric. You aren't qualified to hold a sensible discussion about Lakoff's writing.
Off Topic » in reply to Lakoff? That explains a lot.
