re: Now that's just plain silly
They need to put a big steaming cow flop in front of the American people and convince them it's lemon merengue.
Hey, Republicans pulled it off, why shouldn't we expect Democrats to do it too? (Unless you think that Democrats aren't as good at bullshit as Republicans, which may well be the case.)
I believe the Democrats are on their fourth "New Direction for America" now. Might be third...I've lost count.
That's another good illustration of the core differences between progressives and conservatives. You think it's bad to not "stay the course", and cling to ideas and policies that have proven ineffective or false. But as a Progressive I see the value in continuing to think, refining ideas, discarding what doesn't work and keeping what does, and never giving up the struggle to get it right. The fact that Progressivism is a moving target shouldn't come as a surprise--progress and thus change is at the very heart of Progressivism.
Very disorienting to the Conservative mind, isn't it? I can understand why Conservatives freak out so--if certainty and predictability are your highest values, it must be terrifying to contemplate people who take change in stride and even embrace it. Here be dragons!
