Another example why the world's opinions are warped

The French and others of their ilk love to blast the US for unintended consequences of good intentions while touting the UN and or France as morally superior.

Just watched a documentary on Ruanda. The French trained and armed the people who committed genocide in Ruanda knowing their intent. The "Belgian UN peacekeepers" threw down their weapons and ran ASAP when the carnage started. These actions are a 180 compared to the US putting our soldiers at risk saving an ingrateful Europe twice, and generally promoting democracy despite numerous black marks with the opposite effect. Bosnia wasn't resolved until the US decided that giving France the leadership role on the issue they wanted (used to run rapidly in circles) was costing too many lives.

Genocides are examples of real evil and moral cowardice as contrasted to your example which is merely an example of nothing in life is perfect. Do you propose the US turn a blind eye to terrorism financing simply to avoid sad situations like those suffering kidnappings find themselves in? Or do you have an alternative that would allow a verifiable exemption for such situations? Or did you not bother to think of an alternative as your only real concern is taking pot shots at the US? If you answered such questions elsewhere please point me to the appropriate posts. I haven't read the rest of the thread and probably won't without some means of sifting the few golden nuggets from the loads of crap so common here when I last visited.

You got to give the Canadians in Ruanda credit though for being true beacons of humanitarianism and the opposite of the French and the Belgians. Ruanda, Darfor, Iraq, NK, Boznia, and Iran all indicate how ineffective the UN is when facing ruthless people. Too many like the French and Belgians, too few like the Canadians.

The US is continuously lambasted for the unintended consequences of the Iraq war while the potential consequences of the obvious course of inaction promoted are ignored. Hitler and the jewish genocide was supposed to have tought the world the perils of inaction. It is quite obvious that most people have forgotten or ignore that lesson. Take all the numerous bad negative policies of the US and subtract it from the good the US has done the world and the good still far outweighs what anyone else did in the 20th century.

Hope you get well soon even if politeness doesn't excuse the message you seem to promote that the US is an overall negative influence on the world. You've got far more excuse for that view than many others though who have far more reason to know better.
