Many just don't understand the nature of the enemy.
They think that we can appease the enemy by being nice and showing compassion. What they fail to see is that the Muslims of today are no different than the Vandals, Huns, Visigoths, Vikings, Mongols, or other barbarian hordes of the past. Civilization is at stake, but many simply want to play nice with the barbarians at the gates. Sometimes civilized people must act uncivil if they wish to safeguard what they have.
