God as a lost opportunity

"Too bad, because it could be an ecumentical tool. In the correct context it might mean that a supreme being could use evolution and scienticfic method as tools to acomplish his work."

...Which would is missing the point of everything that has happened philosophically, intellectually and ethically since the enlightenment.

God/god/gods/Santa is a fifth wheel. An Epicycle. Window dressing on the universe. Man can confront the beauty of the manifold universe with nothing more than his mind and his hands. Human kind can nourish and grow understanding without the need of a supreme being to play midwife to that act of creation, to co-sign for truth or give anything meaning or spiritual significance that it other wise would not have.

Again and again, people insist that the explained, the rational and the derived is exactly the sort of thing that lacks sanctity or spiritual depth. They say that to drive God from the natural things and natural processes of the universe (be it evolution or death) devalues the universe. That 'mere' scientific, mathematical or rational understandings are 'soulless'.

I disagree. this is nothing more than the blunt instrument of the godly folk trying to push the stray minds back to the herd. The sheepdogs of faith.

It is just the opposite. To posit a supernatural supreme being (or beings or 'resonance' or etc) to be the vehicle, wellspring or endpoint of spiritual significance is the ultimate begging of the question. It is the rape of the universe of all that is innately sanctified and holy. The mountain does not need God to be sacred to man. Man does not need God for the mountain to be sacred. Nor the quark, nor the muon, nor the lepton, nor cantors proof of the hierarchy of infinities, nor the halting problem, nor general relativity, nor Shannons treatise on information theory nor... a flower.

Those that need god to carry them spiritually should learn how to walk as men do in the sacred world.

We don't need a world of people nailed to boards, nor Arjuna killing his brother, nor Abraham willing to slaughter his son as lessons of love. This is stark madness, not love.
