First of all, your header was bullshit.
Second, my point was that World War II would likely not have been prevented by mollifying Germany after World War I. Stalin came to power in the late 1920s, and even if Hitler had never arisen, Stalin still existed, and would have threatened Europe and other nations in due time anyway. And you can't blame the West's lack of niceness for Joseph Stalin, or despite what some people would have you think, for most other tyrants through history.
I have never questioned the courage of true pacifists, or that they have done good in this world, and have posted to that effect many times. Nobody who has seen a concientious objector, unarmed, working under fire as a medic, would question his courage.
The point is if a tyrant wants to destroy a nation, and is not stopped by force of arms, a half million pacifists lined up in front of his tanks would amount to so much fertilizer, and this is a truth that has to be understood as well.
Hitler failed in his goals because we bombed the living shit out of Germany. So did Japan. The Soviet Union did not devour half the planet because we had fission and fusion weapons pointed at them and lines of American troops protecting Europe, a fact for which we get small thanks. In fact, if you surveyed most Europeans and asked them which nation threatened the peace, most would probably say the United States.
Current Events » in reply to So let me get this straight: you think Hitler's rise to power was a *good* thing because he saved Western Europe from Stalin?
