TOM: "Let me make it clearer: The CEIP could not possibly have written this paper had we not already defeated Saddam's regime and had unfettered access to personnel, facilities, and documents."
MY REPLY: Wow. What logic. That's kind of like conducting an autopsy on someone you believe may have died of suspicious causes, only to learn the cause of death was an unwarranted autopsy.
What you keep forgeting is that the Bush administration said: "We know he has them. We know where they are." How is it possible that they could have been so sure of themselves given that we've found not even the slightest of evidence he actually had them? If we knew where they were, why can't we find them?
TOM: "Another big point missed in this entire discussion is that the administration's idea was to take Iraq out BEFORE it became an "immediate threat." That was the specific point made in the January State of the Union address, and that's why the policy has been called "pre-emptive." Whether you agree with that policy or not, it is ridiculous to accuse someone of inconsistency for "pre-emptively" attacking a nation before it actually attacks us."
MY REPLY: I have to remember that the next I shoot someone just because I believe he might be thinking about breaking into my home. Its a great excuse..."Gee officer, I believed he was going to trespass so I shot him BEFORE he became an immediate threat." Now that's logical justice.
