"I have asked this question several times, and almost no one has answered it: "If she had a living will declaring that she wouldn't want to live in this state, would you honor it?" If the answer is 'Yes' then why do you find it so hard to accept that several people have said she made statements to that effect, and repeated court decisions have found this to be the case. "
It's more complicated than this. But to keep it simple. I would favor following her wishes as expressed in a living will or in some other verifiable consent.
Though of the people who choose the euthansia option, I don't think many people choose to die from dehydration/starvation when given this choice to check in the checkbox question list given to conscious patients before life threaten operations.
In the past I favored euthansia and I probably written posts where I have argued for it. Though this case has made me lessen my conviction in some aspects. My currently thinking is we should outlaw allowing anyone to die from starvation and/or dehydration and with such a law it would no longer be an option.
But I think I'm still in favor of euthansia, but to keep it simple I will not go into it here.
