I've kept my temper when I've been cursed at and even hit. I've been chased around tables by someone who thought I was attractive. I deal with overprotective parents, neglected kids, teens, toddlers, yuppies and laborers. I like them, most of them, so it's not that difficult to deal with the hard cases.
Yet I can't seem to get along with you. You really irritate me, Larry. I know, boo hoo. It's sooo interesting to me that you should feel the need to say that...
My point is, I have to look at all their points of view. Their questions and their needs must be answered and filled on their terms, not mine. If my mind were closed, I couldn't do it. I wouldn't order Christian fiction, and I wouldn't even open the Sonrise Curriculum catalog, and I wouldn't have two biographies of George W. Bush and only one of Bill Clinton, and I wouldn't order romances, either, 'cause I don't like 'em. I can even look at your point of view objectively, Larry, and you do have good points to make sometimes, but the way you make them sets my teeth on edge. When Tom makes sweeping generalizations, he does so with wit.
I notice you couldn't put up with the public for more than a year when you were teaching. And you had a system to fall back on that involved real funding and didn't depend on your personal charm.
