We're spending tens of billions of dollars every year to keep roughly 130,000 military personnel in Europe. If there is no threat to their security, then our troops aren't needed. Bring them home, reduce the military, and save the money. The Cold War is over, remember? If there are threats, then the Europe should take the steps necessary to address the threats. It's up to them to determine what is necessary to address the threats and to act accordingly.
No one is telling them what percentage of their GDP they should spend on their own defense. What I object to is the expectation that we should cheerfully keep paying the burden of their defense while getting lectured about being the world's policemen.
