Re: That's a deep one . . .

Parents now?

Bush should be quiet toward the Canada child?

McCallum should be quiet toward the U.S. child?

Weird.

Back to reality:
Bush & McCallum have something undesirable (to me) in common. They're both politicians. See? I already don’t like them, and would prefer they remain as far from me and my family as possible. I’d much rather have a used car dealer living next door than either of these -- or any other self-righteous, pompous ass.

Now that that is aside, what McCallum said was politically stupid, and he will doubtless continue to hear about it more often than he would like, and from people he would not like to hear it from -- namely the PM.

Bush went to the NATO summit as a main speaker, because NATO is a U.S.-led (that term again) organization. The topic of the day was defense -- go figure. McCallum intimated he was there for the summit, but apparently not to discuss the topic of defense -- at least not so far as money was concerned, and certainly not from the Canadian perspective. He was there to offer -- I don’t know, maybe advice to other nations regarding building NATO up into something that actually works, but please don't mention money, because it would just come right back to Canada’s budget.

Well, I don't see where the al-Qai'da has stated they are going to sit back and wait for Canada to catch up with them. This is a real concern for the United States. You see, we have a very, very long border with Canada. There is also a very, very porous border all up and down the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Whether McCallum likes it or not, Canada is part of this planet (a pretty good sized part, I might add), and anything my president can do to ensure another buck in the Canadian defense coffers, the better for all of us.

We remain right to air our concerns, and McCallum's reply remains stupid. Not to you, as you stated. To me, it was stupid.

It’s allowed.

Now, all we need to do is sit back and see what happens in Canada this February. Hopefully all will go well with the Ministry of Defence.

Dan
