<DO WE GET THIS YET???
The “made-in-Canada decision” is to continue the free-ride policy. Canada is having financial troubles and cannot, at this time, even consider giving up the free-ride. No, not yet. Maybe later when they won't need to they can debate the issue, but not now when their staunchest supporter requests a very little aid (i.e., 3 Air Canada 747’s to transport their troops to regions of conflict).
I get McCallum’s issue just fine -- and I can even realize that McCallum is not the entire nation of Canada.
Did you know, though, that reps from just about every other nation is saying the exact same thing?
Al-Qai'da is bad. International terrorism is bad. It's just that the nations of the world aren't quite ready to fight a war about it.
Which nation that is openly attacked is ever ready for war? War happens. You either stand up, take notice, and fight it, and win, or you can fight it and lose, or just lay down and let them have there way with you.
I feel for Canada and McCallum’s plight. I truly, honestly do.
You see, my own country is having some financial troubles as well. We'll get through it, just as we have in the past, but it would be nice if we weren't footing everybody else's tab as well.
