Cdn military
It's a remarkably sad time for what's historically been a proud and over-acheiving military.
Canada's participation in the two world wars went far beyond what one would expect given its tiny population. That in no small measure secured a respected place for Canada in world affairs through the late 20th century.
But, as has been pointed out on this board and elsewhere, the effects of WW2 are disappearing, and Canada's stature is slowly but surely dwindling. The country will always be respected as a peaceful democracy, but its clout in world affairs will not be in the future what its been in the past.
That's gonna be a tough pill to swallow for many Canadians.
