A lot has changed since 1814
The Canadian military is damn near an empty shell. They barely have the ability to deploy an infantry battalion, much less an armored division. If you can't deploy your forces, then your military is useless. Enemies seldom bother to attack your garrisons. They have an annoying tendency to attack places where your forces aren't located. Very uncivilized, I know, but that's how it works.
