Stuff like this should be treated with a little skepticism, after all it may be twisted out of context, or have some inherent bias. Nevertheless it is interesting. Here are some quotes from one middle eastern asshole's website:
"With the amount the US spends every 92 days on military expenditure, we could ensure a decent human life for every person on this planet for one full year. It would pay for the costs of food, shelter, safe water, literacy, and health care for all in need."
[Of course all this money comes out of the pockets of hardworking americans who pay taxes, not from the pockets of all the other people on the planet.]
"America spends more on Defense and War Industry than the next fifteen nations combined. 6 Times more than Russia, the second largest spender. And more than 23 times more than the combined spending of the seven countries you identify as your most likely adversaries. Adding Russia and China to these 7, they together reach one-third of your military budget. The US now has more than one-third of global military spending."
[It is so much easier to destroy, than to protect what you have built. That's one obvious reason why US military spending is so high in comparison to the other countries. The only possible problem I see with American foreign policy is a contradictory globalization agenda. This agenda aims to open up trade worldwide, but at the same time retains a survivalist mentality. For example if civilization were to collapse it would not make sense for me, as an individual, to horde assets when there are millions of starving people lurking, ready to kill me and take what is mine. I could not hope to protect my belongings forever. It is better to act as a nation for our mutual survival, thereby maintaining law & order & stability, and the best chance for me as an individual to protect my own wellbeing. Extrapolate that to a worldwide scale, it might not be possible for globalization to occur without a global security plan. Perhaps the US would be more able to protect its own if it taught others how to do the same. If we see a weakness somewhere else, and know how to fix it, we should tell them. It would be the right thing to do.]
