Given that Bush's opponents are apparently willing to reexamine our entire foreign policy regarding Iraq in light of sixteen words in the State of the Union address, while ignoring hundreds of other facts and statements justifying our actions--never mind a proven historical pattern of behavior on the part of Saddam and Iraq--I am inclined to believe that such an investigation will be largely a fishing expedition.
The Democratic Party has jack shit going into 2004. Many Democrats interviewed could not name a single candidate running.* Their policies consist of two things: being anti-Republican, and socialism. The latter has to be effectively concealed to win national elections, so it isn't much help.
The only thing they can do is hope for some failure or scandal on the part of Bush, and if they have to make one up, they will. So far, none of these attempts have worked (remember the "Bush = Enron" attempt?)
*Howard Dean seems to be the current Great White Hope for the Left, since he follows the socialist line right down the middle on almost every issue.
