"Feel free to be speculative. I'm really interested. "
I don't have to. You are making the claim that we were justified in going to war in that there were WMD and terrorist ties.
Where are they? Show me those ties? Hmmm? Show me those WMD? Yes?
I'm waiting. [yawn]
"What would meet your standards as "an empirical fact?""
Um how about, an empirical fact (I hope you don't need THAT explained to you, do you?).
What you are trying to do is shift this into a debate (yet again) into about what I would find worthy to go to war over, and what my bar is, so that we can argue about that... As if it could win your case by proxy that way.
My views- Thats not what this debate is about, and MY views are somewhat irrelevant here in the sense that REGARDLESS of where my Bar was, the Bar employed by the Bush administration was absurdly low enough that EVERY SINGLE CLAIM MADE by that said administration about the existence of the WMD and Al-Qaeda operatives has proven false so far. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Think about that.
tom wrote:"I would really like to know what you would have considered "sufficient evidence," and in what form, that WOULD have justified an attack on Iraq? Prior to the attack, when Saddam and his crew controlled the nation?"
Lets just settle for things that turned out to be true. How is that? Truth is too high a bar to expect for waging pre-emptive war on the basis of dire threat to our national security? Truth is too high a bar to hold the slaughter of thousands against?
I'd love to hear your response. I am absolutely quivering in anticipation....
