Tom, trivializing discussion of the problem as partisan doesn't make it go away; it comes across as another attempt to deflect attention from the problem. The problem is real and serious, and it's not a partisan fabrication. There are two sets of fact in conflict: Bush Administration claims of factual knowledge of WMD in Iraq before the war; and the failure to find the WMD after the war. That's the hard truth Bush faces.
Public debate about matters like this is rarely as nuanced and deep as discussions on the HabitableZone. We're a bunch of eccentrics who like to worry issues to death, to delve to a depth that most people would see as obsessive. We scratch our itch to know till we bleed.
But the general public wants its issues packaged into a nice simple binary form. Either Bush lied or he didn't; and rancorous debate framed in those terms makes profitable fodder for the media. We can't change that, only try to do better amongst ourselves.
