...today's kids ARE capable of applying themselves to pick up complex skills. For example, the antics of skateboarders, annoying as they can be, often display phenomenal skill and grace which can only be achieved by single minded practice and hard work. And watching urban girls doing their elaborate jump-rope routines, not to mention street basketball, tells me the human urge to excel can defeat the lure of the cheap thrills of the machine.
