synchronicity
Been three decades since I read it, so it'd be difficult for me to discuss it with any merit. The book, as well as the class (one of the best teachers I've ever had), taught me to look at world events in a different way, looking for how current events might foretell future ones as they climbed an escalation ladder.
My early exposure to the horrors of nuclear weapons was clinical. The manual I read was classic military stuff, down to the numbered paragraphs and outline form. Just the facts, stripped of emotion except for the shudder down the spine while "thinking the un-thinkable".
