I know an awful lot of Viet vets, too. One of them very intimately. Give it up, TB, right or wrong, this is not something that can be blog-determined. We both know it happened, what we don't agree on is how much. All I know is I never heard of it until the John Wayne wannabees started bringing it up.
I can come up with a couple of cases of hippies getting the crap beat out of them by patriots for the crime of wearing their hair to long, but I can't point you to any links on that.
