Tom, ever read about the suffering of the barely survivors and the actual horror of it all?

I wont start an argument over 'if the use of the A-bomb saved lives'- it almost certainly did- but please dont be a fool and reduce the living hell it did cause- I have read the 'objective' accounts of those that saw flesh falling off victims... I think that a bullet would have been FAR kinder- but if bullets had to have been applied to millions to take the Japanese islands without Fat Man and little boy would that have been kinder?

Who sets the value on those equations? All I can say is that decision needs to be looked at very solemnly- it was a terrible thing to do, maybe it was right, but it wasnt 'good'.... I wasnt alive then- hell my parents were barely able to remember it... and yes, TB I knew full well since a young age that the firebombings killed more, but is war based on killing civillians just? If it is, then can we have the outrage against the 9-11 suicide bombers? BEFORE YOU SCREAM- no I do not- in any way defend their actions- what they did was evil- BUT is killing 10's of thousands of civillians in an 'honest war' any better? Maybe they didnt agree to the perverted rules of war that allowed them to die?

Of course, you can always be pacifist to the point that you simply invite destruction, but at what point on the other side do you simply lose the moral justification? Even you have to admit that there is such a point... honestly, TB are you ok with what we are doing? If so, at what point are you prepared to say "Ok this is too much"?

I ask this honestly, I dont have an answer myself, but I do think we are going too far- maybe morally honest people on both sides can have these questions without being called traitors?
