Have you ever seen the movie "Cold Mountain"?
That was a stark representation of what happened to communities when "war" has been declared and locals take up their own ideas of vigilante justice. And I'm sure there are renegades in every culture who, given the chance, will use an excuse to assume power and kill others.
Torture others. Spit at them. Call then traitors.
We saw it recently. It's a human trait. Mostly among men.
(Where do they get that from?)
Maybe if the women ever get power we can start castrating the males at birth, except for a few good ones we keep for breeding stock.
