I know because I've lost really good posts of my own that way, the kind Robert would love, so I know its not a plot to crush one side of the debate. It's also happened on several of the boards, not just the one he moderates. It may be the poster's error, or a flaw in the software, but it's not the moderators.
You must know yourself how frustrating it is to bust your balls trying to put together a good post and then having it disappear into the vortex when you post it. You feel drained, and its impossible to regain the spirit and fire you originally put into it. If you re-post it comes off limp and weak, so very often you just let it slide.
When I'm putting together a long and complex post I really feel strongly about, I usually compose it off line and save it to hard drive, and cut and paste it into the post window when I'm ready to go with it. But for the shorter posts, I get lazy and compose it in the window, and that's when I get burnt.
No, by "stacked deck" I was talking about how so many threads, even totally non-political ones like this "duck and cover" piece, quickly degenerate into the usual left vs right bullshit. I'm not making an ideological accusation here, both sides do it. It's like the ideologues not only feel the need to attack even the slightest deviation from political correctness, but when there is no conflict, they feel the need to start one up. This is why I was having a cow over on Flame during the global warming piece...I hope you didn't take that too personally, by the way, but I was pretty steamed and said some things I regretted later.
