Ya know, SDAI-Tech1, I sometimes suspect you of making things up about California, based in part on your approximate age and therefore the implausibility of some of the events you claim to have witnessed or conditions that existed before you were born.
But the hairs rose on the back of my neck when you mentioned the rocket ship in El Dorado Park. The school you could've looked up on the Net (and found it's gone charter and renamed), and the map shows the park nearby. The Pike is in the history books, and everybody knows about the Queen Mary (my Dad worked for the city and helped negotiate the deal that brought it to Long Beach).
But the rocket ship? I haven't thought of it in at least four decades, but now that you mention it, I remember it clearly. Too clearly to be just a suggestion.
That's freaky, man. Are you hinting that you lived in the same general neighborhood I lived in, a decade or two earlier?
What kind of fish did kids catch in the lake at El Dorado Park?
