Here's why. Is the climate warming? A fairly large amount of data says it is. So? As has been pointed out, the Earth's climate is in constant flux. Glaciers in retreat from at least 1850, the Little Ice Age, the Medieval Warming Period, 5,000 year old plant matter underneath thousands of feet of glacial ice, the Younger Dryas event, forest remnants found in Greenland, etc all point to this. Yet, all of these events occurred NATURALLY. Massive swings in climate with no manmade catalysts. Atmospheric CO2 levels measured in parts per MILLION are not going to have dramatic effects on the climate. Our current impact on these cycles is lost in the noise.
The science on climate change is fairly straight forward, but that's not the issue. The issue is the political left, taking this science and using it to push through their twisted ideology. Increased bureaucracy, taxation, regulation, and oversight on a massive new scale.

- We're talking parts per million
- "THe effects on temperature are negligible at best. "- That is nonsense, the science says otherwise...
- No we are not talking parts per million. And anyway, how would you know SteveS' objection till he has voiced it.
- CO2 levels are around 380 ppm (parts per MILLION)
- More used to seeing it as a percent. (n/t)
