<So build a moat around your house, and don't go out of it.
I get out plenty, thanks. If there's a moat, blame the weather.
You resent having to give away any of your money to those less fortunate than you.
Oh, not in the least. I give away quite a bit to those less fortunate, and not just money. What I resent is having money taken from me by politicians who then turn around and pass it out as though it came out of their own pockets, in order to buy votes.
Words have exact meanings.
Many less fortunate than you resent having to give their lifeblood and hours missed from their families to folks like you who have plenty.
I assume you are talking about our excellent armed forces, comprised of volunteers, not conscripts (and a damn good thing, too), and notwithstanding your stereotype, not for the most part "less fortunate" people seething with class envy (you wish). Most of them seem to be one hell of a lot more enthusiastic about our country and our leadership than a lot of people marching the streets seem to be.
And believe me, I appreciate them, and my taxes pay and support them too.
