<> I didn't go to my next-door neighbor with a gun and demand he pay for it.
What the fruk are you talking about, man??
I can't agree with your repetition here about that.
No-one's robbing you.
Oh, I get it. You think you are being ROBBED.
No wonder you're so freekin crazy.
To rob: (1) : to take something away from by force : steal from
If I choose not to pay taxes, very bad things will happen to me.
*sigh.* It's like pushing a rope.
Much of the Federal Budget is wealth redistribution, i.e. people receiving some form of "entitlement" from the government. This is distinct from other forms of Federal spending where at least some value is returned. As an example, Social Security is wealth redistribution. Paying the salary of a Federal employee who is at least doing something for the money is not. Whether the Federal employee is as efficient as a private alternative would be is a completely separate issue.
When something is provided to a person at the expense of taxpayers, one group of people is being forced to pay for something that another group needs. These "needs" tend to expand geometrically, as history shows. That placing large numbers of voters in a position of dependence on such government largesse increases the power of the government is something most people don't seem to notice.
Too bad people aren't as concerned about the State addicting people to government checks like corporations addicted people to cigarettes.
I can see where you want to use the tax bracket to make your point, but it isn't going to work with me.
That's a form of intellectual elitism.
Based on $$$.
Yeah, that's kind of what I suspected.
You know, I think what really pisses me off is not so much the huge chunk of money sucked off me every year, of which by actual count over half goes into the pockets of fellow citizens just because they need it. I could think of worse places for it to go.
I think what really pisses me off is the attitude by the people getting the cash, and especially those advocating the looting party, that they have a RIGHT to this money, and that I don't, and that I should be delighted to be dragged into supporting every brainfarted social program some Washington fatcat thinks up to get votes, and if I'm not, then there must be something wrong with ME.
When I'm mugged at an ATM, at least the thug doesn't pretend he's doing me a favor.
