Nah. It's the message.

There are people here with far worse "tones" than I have. Yet I notice that people mostly ignore them or dismiss them, and seemingly don't waste a second thought on them.

I make a habit of poking holes in a number of comfortable myths around here. That's irritating, to be sure, but most people can shrug that off. People are comfortable talking about ideas, even in hostile tones, as long as it's clear that the conversations are all on the same level with "favorite flavor of smoothie." Like cats making noises at each other in the yard, nothing really changes on either side.

It's when you bring information, numbers and real analysis to back things up that people get really pissed off. All of a sudden, you're implying that maybe, just maybe, their cherished Conventional Wisdom might actually be WRONG, not just a different viewpoint.

Some people seem to get enormous joy out of catching me out in a mistake or something I was wrong about. This tends to prove the point about what's REALLY got their knickers in a twist.

I have no problem with people pointing out my mistakes or something I didn't know. If it's done politely, and holds water, you might be surprised at the response.
