You sound a bit hurt that I didn't respond at greater length, so imagine how you'd feel if I hadn't responded at all. Here's a rain check on "a clever argument, brilliantly illustrated points, a cool primate analogy and some sort of Rand insult"...maybe next time, thanks for the compliments.

You take the whole HabitableZone way too seriously, Techie, and you should follow your Boss RightWinger a little more faithfully. Tom's adopted that role (and the role itself requires him to deny it), and seems to understand that it's a game, complete with grousing about how nobody acknowledges his authority and agrees with him. RightWingers define themselve by what they oppose and who their enemies are, and Tom's pose of underdog is pure Winger auto egoism.

Me dear ol' dad Atilla doesn't take it so seriously either. The Left doesn't have a monopoly on political theatre, by any means, and Atilla enjoys scaring the beejezus out of normal people with the RightWing version, the frothing-at-the-mouth mad-dog rabid hyperconservative schtick. You think I haven't told him about his affectionate nickname? He thinks it's funny, Tech!

Only goes to show that, despite the evidence before us, it's not true that Conservatives have no sense of humor. You just have to learn to recognize it.
