Malignant rhetoric is hardly a monopoly of the "Right Wing," nor is it anything new.

When I was in college, conservatism and libertarianism were something you kept your mouth shut about if you knew what was good for you. Mostly I learned this the hard way. I still remember getting hooted down by an entire classroom for suggesting that the phone company might work better if it was privatized. The behavior of the Left in this country has been far from civil for many years.

I share some of your opinions of some of the individuals of the "alternative media," but I consider it progress that there actually is such a thing as an alternative media nowadays (not just on the Right either) I shudder to think of some of the things that might have been different without the checks and balances on our information flow that we have now.

As far as the more "civilized" behavior of the Founders go, I recommend checking out the Jefferson/Adams election.

There are others on the Right here with your views who do not rely on these shameful tactics.
