Bingo.

There are people who have over time resisted every attempt to restrain greed. Workers compensation, Unions, emissions, are a few. They object to taxes. They resent every domestic program for the less privileged individual and family, while mildly objecting to corporate welfare. If typewriters could wink, that's when we'd see it.

When they object to a developing situation which may have a short-term impact on corporate profits one can safely surmise it is not on the merits, but a knee-jerk submission to their prejudices and ideology. That's a slam dunk. One should not expect anything else.

It is easy to get trapped by people who have suspended reason, logic and rational thinking in favor if ideology. One thinks that if I only explain that turd on the sidewalk well enough the ideologues will have to acknowledge it's crap. One could smell it and show a photo of the dog leaving it. They will blandly it's chocolate ice cream.

A further surprise is how these same people have been absolutely and completely wrong on every issue they've touched and still they argue the next. Enron and WorldCom, as well as the current financial crisis have demonstrated beyond any doubt that unrestrained capitalism does not work. And yet the advocacy for that demonstrated failure continues unabated.

There's more, but it's not necessary. They can argue the next issue without ever apologizing for the last 10 or 15 failures, versus no successes.

There is one thing crazier than an irrational person. That's the person who tries to make sense of them.
