Mother nature did it would be plausible if we didn't have a clearly identified cause. Mother nature has changed things over a long period of time even more than we are seeing, but I'm not aware of such a rapid change not associated with supervolcano events. It is not simple to claim mother nature is responsible unless you can clearly explain how all the CO2 we have emitted is going to be preferentially eliminated.
