The simplest explanation for any current global warming is the same as it was for previous episodes of global warming. Mother Nature does it. No need to invoke Rube Goldberg-like climate forcing scenarios to account for what has occurred naturally many times over.
If we are to wean ourselves off of oil, as you suggest, wouldn't a good first step be to take a look at urban sprawl? What about the energy consumed and chemicals applied to maintain lawns and golf courses? What about the wisdom of interstate haulage using trucks? In short, aren't there numerous commonsense approaches to reducing energy consumption we could adopt?
Finally, is CO2 really the most toxic thing man is pumping into the environment? I think not, and I mean not by a long shot.
Rather, as I've said, carbon dioxide is being demonized to advance a whole parade of questionable agendas that will have the perhaps unintended result of stunting economic growth at home,on the one hand, while playing right into the hands of such countries as China and India, on the other, nations which have already prospered at our expense because of short-sighted, greedy, and perhaps insidious moves made in the recent past in terms of outsourcing jobs at the same time we've allowed our once formidable industrial base to be dismantled.
Are we really that shortsighted, or is something else going on?
Again, food for thought
Thanks for your comments, Mark, and Happy Thanksgiving
