What I'm having a hard time with though is your inference that Israel (in their policy) is a single entity. Was our country George Bush because 51% voted for him? Unfortunately, with any country the people in power rarely represent the views of an overwhelming majority of the citizens.
Just like in our country there a hodge-podge of good, bad, indifferent, and uninformed people. In almost all cases the relative percentages between those groups is pretty much consistent throughout the world. I'm trying to get that point across to Tom that you can't just label some group (even Hamas) with a singular set of traits. Every little sub culture is still made up of very diverse individuals.
I know you probably were talking about the Israeli government but in your criticism just as when you diss American policies you're talking about the power that be and not America as a whole.
The things you point out are valid criticisms - of the Israeli neo-cons not Israel as a whole.
