I read in the Jeruselam Post today that most of the Hamas "security men" who died in the Israeli bombings weren't rocket-launching militants at all - they were in fact policemen who enforce local law and order, direct traffic, etc. and basically try to maintain a little sanity and civil order amid the chaos, misery and madness in Gaza.
What the Palestinians need is empowerment, with a real country and a real government with real control over their own affairs, control over their borders, their airspace, their seaports, their resources, their destiny. A real government strong and willing enough to control and stop the radical elements, the terrorists, within their society.
It's going to take a lot of courage, creativity, hard work and good will to establish and empower a real, credible, moderate and responsible Palestinian government, ruling over a genuine Palestinian nation. Bombing the hell out of them in this kind of insane collective punishment won't help at all in achieving that objective.
