The attacks on New York and Washington were by a country? Which one would that be Tom, Saudi Arabia? The majority of the attackers were from there. And just which nuclear weapon did they use. I seem to have forgotten that part of the attack.
This doesn't even make sense. My point was the utter failure of deterrence on fanatics. Bin Laden obviously wasn't even worried about a conventional response to an attack on the U.S., much less a nuclear one. Either he didn't think we'd mount one, or didn't care. Either way, the result is the same.
The reason most of the attackers were from Saudi Arabia, as has been pointed out many times, is because visas from that nation into the U.S. were subjected to the least scrutiny.
They didn't use a nuclear weapon. They would have if they could have.
Sometimes it seems to be a basic article of faith among liberals that there is no real evil in the world, and that if we just say the right things and make the right deals, all sides of any conflict can come out happy at the other end. History does not back this idea up. How many more decades of "conferences" will it take to make this clear?
There is no compromise point between Hamas--in its present form--and Israel that results in both of them existing at the end of the negotiation process. There might be such a potential with a moderate Palestinian leadership, but moderates seem to have a very short life span in Palestinian territories.
For peace to occur, every last bit of Hamas has to be eliminated. If the Palestinians can't do it themselves--and they've tried--who else will do it?
