Here's how you find out what's true or not.
Find the people who have been over there, and have been around the country. The congressmen who traveled there, the assistance people working there, and the soldiers stationed there. There are links all over the place. I wish I had the time to collect them all, but I don't.
When you tally them up, by and large, do they agree with the picture the media is painting, or not?
I spent a lot of time collecting information from small papers, from articles in journals, and other places outside the mainstream media documenting the amazement of people in Iraq at the raw negativity of the media coverage.
Think hard about the reality. We have a nation the size of California, with twenty million people in it. There are attempted attacks maybe 25-30 times a day. Some succeed.
In California over 1,800 people were murdered last year. Over 100 alone in one city right across the bay from me.
In Iraq, normal life is going on all over the place, with slow but sure growth. Listen to the people who are over there doing something, not staying in a hotel and sending out dispatches.
