Did I misunderstand?
Your answer to the question of how to solve the problem once and for all was:
Accept their radical religion, destroying all others, and plow under those parts of our civilization they disapprove of. Almost all of it. Enslave our women, accept the rule of whatever religious leaders they happen to come up with, and bingo. Nobody gets hurt. Well, after we've sent all the Jews to the ovens, that is.
And then you went on to describe the alternative of war without end, fighting an endless stream of terrorists who replace every one we kill.*
That sure seemed to add up to saying that the fighting won't stop unless we surrender or are defeated.
Unless you mean that the only way to achieve victory is to preemptively kill every Muslim who might become a terrorist some day. I don't think you're advocating genocide, Tom, so it seems like you see only those two choices.
* -- You maintain that they're fanatics who will pay any price in pursuit of their cause (and I don't disagree), so how can this:
we still need to convince the terrorists that what they are doing cannot get them what they want, and costs them too much.
...ever succeed? How can the cost ever be too high to people who are willing to pay any cost? How will that dissuade new fighters from enlisting in their cause to replace the ones we kill?
