I understand how you feel and I believe I understand why.
It is primarily for exactly the reasons that you state with a dash of contempt for the ability of GWB to handle the situation. If it had been done by Clinton or Gore you would probably still be displeased but you might be a bit more comfortable with it.
I (and others) believe you are wrong for all the reasons that have been stated and restated over and over. It is all in the way that we perceive the problem.
I may or may not say more on this subject depending on whether or not I can figure out a different way to say it.
I will say this. Did you notice the comments by Gen. Tommy Franks, a few days ago? He stated in no uncertain terms that we are in danger of losing our republic. If terrorists succeed in a major attack on U.S. soil that kills upward of 100,000 there is a high degree of likelihood that we would go forward under some form of military government. Not that Tommy Franks is the final word on the future any more than Raoul's Mr. van Creveld but Franks did not arrive there in a vacuum.
This could happen regardless of who or what party is in power and not invading Iraq would have no effect on the probability of it happening. It may even be innevitable but there is a chance that a transformation of Iraq could change things.
