That's easy. Submit to the terrorists. Accept their radical religion, destroying all others, and plow under those parts of our civilization they disapprove of. Almost all of it. Enslave our women, accept the rule of whatever religious leaders they happen to come up with, and bingo. Nobody gets hurt. Well, after we've sent all the Jews to the ovens, that is.

Oh, wait. As I recall one or two people got hurt under the Taliban, even the faithful Muslims. Maybe some people just like to hurt people.

The other option is to do what we are doing. Destroy their refuges, obliterate their ranks when we find them, and do whatever we can to obstruct their efforts, and their financing. There will still be attacks, but what is the alternative? It is important to note that more moderate Muslims are beginning to realize that al Qaeda is not about being Muslim, but something else entirely. If you're looking for a way to make sure that bad guys just don't hate us any more, good luck.

You cannot compromise with people who think like Osama bin Laden. There are some positions where middle ground does not exist. This is anathema to the way we have been taught to think in recent years, but it's no less true. And no, their attitude is not the result of something bad that we did, although this is also the way we've been taught to think. Such fanatics have existed throughout history, and this is just the most recent variation.

Those running the terror efforts are not poor. Most are rich. They are not hungry, they are not short of medicine, they are not persecuted. This is not deprived people striking out. These are people with a warped view of existence who demand that the entire world share it or die.
