re: Whoa there

I heartily agree that a new and improved international organization would be a good idea. A few changes from the present-day U.N. might be:

- Not worshiping at the feet of collectivism and socialism

- Not taking sides against the Western nations in almost every conflict

- Not trying to build yourself into an all-powerful world government

- Totalitarian dictatorships need not apply, never mind letting them run the joint

- Kick out the thugs using the U.N. as their own personal fiefdom

Some other changes might be nice, too. Some growth version of NATO might be promising. An organization where somebody besides the U.S. brings some resources to the table wouldn't suck either.

Of course, this isn't much help right now anyway.

And speaking of blind spots, you are aware that over 40 nations are currently cooperating with us in the Iraq situation? Including some rather important ones? I'm still amazed that the term "unilateral" is still thrown around without any reference to reality.

I don't think you can really redefine the term "international cooperation" to mean only cooperative efforts that include France, Germany, and Russia.
