I was a baby while he was president, so what I know about him, I learned from history. I have been to his Ranch in central Texas. He cared a lot about teachers and education, but he was not the most honest of politicians. He could be rough and tumble, and not play by the rules.
At his ranch, he had an amphibious car. He like to take visitors for a ride in it. Then he would scare the heck out of them by driving this care into the Pedernales River.
He did some good things for Texas, like getting NASA in Houston, but he also did some things us Texans are not proud of, like getting dead Texans to vote for Kennedy.
When I was at his ranch, Ladybird Johnson was there. She has done a lot to keep Texas beautiful.
Nixon was a great president for his China policy, but he should not have lied about Watergate. I am sure both political sides were spying on each other, and his guys were the ones to get caught. Not that that is an excuse. Anyway, he shouldn’t have lied, but at least he cared enough about his country to resign.
I actually agree with the reasons Kennedy got us involved with Vietnam, I just think the war was fought poorly. At the time, the communist were threatening to take over the world, and they had to be stopped. They were keeping up with their goal of “burying†us.
And I actually have some real issues with Nixon when it comes to Space Exploration. We all know science took a back seat in Apollo. Apollo was about showing the USSR that if we can put a man on the Moon, we can put a warhead on the steps of the Kremlin. But Apollo had the potential to get a permanent human presence on the Moon, and Nixon should have continued the program in this direction.
No politician is perfect.
That presentation was very biased. If they want to say the US of A made some wrong choices in the past about Saddam, so be it, but lets hear the whole story, just not one biased side.
